neoprene masks

It is at the point that the negative is made that the process varies for Neoprene masks.  The negative is first thoroughly cleaned of Vaseline and allowed to dry out for several days.  The negative must be very dry in order to be "thirsty" enough to hold the neoprene.

Neoprene is then poured into the negative and allowed to sit for approximately an hour, then poured back out again.  What remains clinging to the sides of the plaster negative will dry over the next day and be peeled out to become the actual mask.  It is the trimmed, sanded, painted and finished much the same as the papier mâché  masks.
