Poseidon,
God of the Sea, was the brother to
Zeus and
Hades.
He was married to Amphitrite, a Nereid, one of the
sea-nymphs. He had a magnificent palace beneath the sea, but he was often found
in Olympus. He was also beloved by the Greeks for giving the first horse
to mankind. He was often called "Earth-shaker" and is
never found without his mighty three-pronged Trident.
Poseidon
here is painted in the colors of the deep Mediterranean, and his hair appears as though he had
just risen from the ocean, dripping with water droplets, and pearls. His cheeks
are similar to those of his brothers',
Zeus and
Hades.
His three pronged crown, painted like oxidizing copper, mirrors his Trident.
